He Did It!

Quinn slept "through the night"! I'm learning that everyone has a different definition of what sleeping through the night means. For me it means at least 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Last week he had one night where he slept 7 1/2 hours straight, so close! Well, last night he slept from 9:30-6:00... NONSTOP! I'm so proud. I wish I could say I went to bed when he did, but of course, I did not. Now we just have to wait and see if this pattern continues!

Pike Place Market

Last Friday my parents drove up to Redmond after work so they could spend the weekend with Ryan (and Quinn) before Ryan headed back to Purdue for his last year of graduate school. We wanted to hang out in Seattle some so we decided to go to Pike Place Market. It was a little crazy with a stroller. Next time we'll be sure and bring the Baby Bjorn. It was nice to see all of the fresh fruits, veges, fish... and of course, the water! We bought a little produce and planned to buy some salmon for dinner as well, but it turned out it was extremely overpriced ($100 for 2 pounds, I believe). We've since learned that you shouldn't buy from what mom considers "the real place". You know, where they throw the fish around? Apparently the other vendors are much more reasonable and the fish is just as fresh. Anyhow, it was a nice day. The best part was definitely dinner back at our place though because Megan went fishing and crabbing that morning and brought over fresh crab. I don't think I've ever actually eaten crab at home before. Crabbing is something I think I could get into if it means having that kind of dinner more often! As always, it was so nice to just spend time with the family.

Pat claims to have witnessed many of these 'Fleming family meetings'. We're wondering, "Now what?"

Alki

Last Friday Quinn and I enjoyed a nice day in Seattle with Ryan and Megan. Megan grew up in the area and showed us around. We ate sushi lunch at the U Village (I think that is what it's called), drove around the U District, and ended up in West Seattle at Alki, the beach! If you know me, you know I LOVE the beach. I think Megan was determined to help me fall in love with Seattle, so she knew exactly where we should go. :) I hope that Quinn develops a love of water and the beach as well, but for now, he simply tolerated the experience!

Just chillin'

Still chillin'

And chillin' some more

"I'm pretty happy, Mom."

"Uncle Ryan is funny!"

Aww, how precious.

We loved our time with Uncle Ryan and Megan!

The Four B's... Our Saving Grace!

Last week Pat and I started a bedtime routine with Quinn and it has been glorious! We were really struggling to get Quinn to sleep before about 12:30am. I found myself dreading each evening because I wouldn't know how long it would take Quinn to fall asleep and once he was sleeping, I wouldn't know how long it would last. People kept recommending routine, routine, routine. I finally took the advice and ran with it! It has been great for all three of us. Now at 9:00pm (roughly) we start with a bath for Quinn (which he LOVES), then give him a bottle, read him books, and put him to bed with music. By 9:30 (or 10:00) our precious little boy is fast asleep and we have a little time to ourselves again. Although, the first night we simply sat downstairs in silence with the baby monitor and just listened (and ran upstairs every 10 minutes to check on him). Now we're getting a little better, but that monitor is still close!

Sweet dreams baby Quinn!

Mr. Adorable!

Will recently bought a new camera, and lucky for us, Quinn has been his little photography experiment. Here are a few of my favorites!

Our New Home!

To make a long story short, Pat and I survived our move from California to Washington. We definitely couldn't have done it without the help of my parents or Seth. Thank you! I don't want to dwell on the tediousness of the move, so instead I'd like to skip over the process of the move and show you our new place! We are feeling pretty settled and are really loving the new area where we are living. There are trees everywhere and while we are living in a pretty big complex, it feels like a nice community area. I look forward to taking advantage of what the area has to offer. Apparently Redmond is the biking capital of Washington (or something like that)!

So, here is the view from the front door. To the left is the staircase, but that picture was incredibly boring, so I will spare you!

There is this weird little cut-out right when you walk in that we decided to make into a little picture nook. Now, I'm loving it! The door that you see here leads to the garage. That's still a work in progress!

Here is the view of our living room from the hallway. I love the fireplace (and will love being able to use it this fall/winter)!

A close up of the mantle. The sign was a wedding gift and I just love the saying, "Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be." It's nice having a place to showcase it now.

Here is the view of the living room from the dining room. It's so nice to have that little bookcase area. Not only are we able to display some of our books, but it gives us a place for our games and pet toys (although soon Quinn's toys will take over) as well! :)

Dining room.

Our kitchen.

Now, imagine walking up the stairs...

Our bedroom (the view from the door). You can see into the bathroom a little on the right.

The view from that bathroom (except the pack n play isn't in the picture). Imagine that at the foot of the bed. :)

The little angel actually sleeping (which is why I was able to finally take these photos).

The view from my side of the bed. :) We realized that no matter how much shelf space we have, there is never enough!

Our bathroom! This is the biggest bathroom I've ever had and at first it seemed too big. After being here for a couple of weeks I must admit, having the space in there has been pretty nice!

The linen closet... I decided to change it into shoe storage. So fun!

A walk-in closet! We're in heaven (since neither one of us is particularly skilled at purging)!

The hallway. Our bedroom is the door on the far right. The stairs are on the far left, and the washer/dryer is hidden in the doors that you see on the left. To the right is another closet. This photo was taken from Quinn's bathroom.

Pat's work space. This photo was taken from Quinn's room.

Quinn's room.

The crib wall will be the "scene wall". We will paint it sky blue and Pat will repaint the mural that he had painted at our old place. Then, this room will be complete!

The wall where the mural will be.

Another weird little nook that we didn't know what to do with, that is until we decided to make it a little play nook for Quinn. His toys are being stored in what used to be our coffee table. I was happy to be able to find a use for that furniture since there was no way it was going to fit in the living room.

Another walk-in, for Quinn!

The view from the closet. You can see the "nook" a little better here.

Quinn's bathroom. The decor isn't complete in here yet...

Quinn's personalized towels. Thanks Sally!

And that completes the tour! We still need to finish organizing the garage and figure out what to do with the downstairs bathroom. But, considering we haven't been here long, I'm feeling pretty good about what has been accomplished. It's definitely feeling like home here which helps make the transition easier for me!
