A 3rd Birthday Party

For Quinn's birthday party this year, we went with a movie theme (duh).  It was fun for me because it was the first time we've hosted a (kid) birthday party at our house (in the past we've been at my parents' house in Walla Walla).  We are so grateful to our families for traveling to us for his birthday this year.  Thank you!!!
In the afternoon Pat, Auntie Riah, and Grandma Cathy took Quinn to see Madagascar 3 while my mom and I set up.  Ryan and my Dad were in Seattle celebrating Ryan's first half-marathon (which he completely rocked)!  Apparently Quinn loved the movie, and thanks to my mom, things came together effortlessly at home.

We had movie theatre inspired food (hot dogs, popcorn, and candy).  And we also broke Pat's cake decorating tradition by going through a bakery this year.  There was a silent slide show ("movie") running of pictures from Quinn's 3rd year in the background.  By the end of the night my brother was facetiously suggesting that we watch the slide show for another couple of hours.  Thanks a lot, Ry.

The decor inspiration came from Kara's Party Ideas.  If you ever need a little party inspiration, that's the place!  The ideas are endless.  And as you can see, the kid was thoroughly spoiled.  He better not get used to this.
The party actually started out with an adult game of Sequence because the kids were asleep.  That's my kind of party.  :)  When Quinn woke up from his nap and saw the set-up, he stared in awe.  He was excited about "all the presents" (no surprise there).  He was also excited about his cake, the movie characters that were on it, and the movie poster printouts on the wall.
His main interest was certainly the gifts, though.  He was too excited to enjoy any of his party food.  He just waited for his guests to finish eating so he could dig in.  He seemed genuinely thrilled with each present, and has been enjoying them daily ever since.

When he went to bed that night Pat asked him what his favorite part of his party was.  He responded with "All the presents."  Pat went on to tell him that people bought him gifts because they love him so much.  Then Quinn said, "Yah, Daddy.  I sooooo happy.  I no want cry."

The girls were pretty adorable together.

We are so grateful to those who celebrated Quinn with us this year, near and far.  You are all loved.  Thank you!
